Weinbach 50 Model 126E1 High Gloss Ebony Piano Manufactured by Petrof in Hradec Kralove in Czech Republic in 2003, this is simply a beautiful piano in pristine condition not a scratch to be seen. The instrument is produced in cooperation with our partner, with whom we have been working since 2013. The upright piano is equipped with PETROF action and RENNER hammerheads. The kicker is that because Petrof/Weinbach are not as well known in the US, one can buy a 6' grand for about $20,000. Weinbach upright piano 126 W2, with its stable construction, is suitable for intensive use, for example in school. It's basically one step below the Steinway, but better than the mass-produced pianos like Kawai, Boston, Yamaha, Young Chang, and the rest, which of course are better than anything I've ever owned. The seller has not specified a postage method to United States. Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing. And, it's handcrafted too, unlike the Kawai or Boston. Weinbach upright piano with Fabric covered Seat Brand originated in Germany in 1887, European made, excellent condition, rarely used. In particular the Petrof/Weinbach (they're the same company, just that one was renamed for the German market) stood out as having a pretty easy touch and bright, beautiful sound. The one salesman-type guy in the store showed me these completely different brands of pianos that I had never seen before. Then we went to Schaeffer's Piano in Rockville. Apparently the wife wasn't really that good at playing, but they wanted a grand piano anyway for their house. Then this couple asked me to play on a Kawai grand for them. I played a few of their grand pianos, although Becky really wanted an upright. They told me it went: Steinway, Boston, Kawai. Jordan Kitts is the big store in the Bethesda mall, and they are the exclusive Steinway dealer and proud of it. Well, we (Becky and I) went to two piano stores last Sunday. So sadly I had to let it go to someone else. What a steal! Unfortunately, I couldn't justify buying that AND a car. Last month I had seen a Kawai RX-3 6'1" grand on Craigslist for $8200.
I also decided that I would go for a 6' grand piano because a 5' baby grand is, in my opinion, not really worth it over a professional upright. Upright pianos were out because of the whole gravity thing. Remember, Steinway was out because it is just too expensive, and frankly, I'm not a concert pianist and really don't need the best instrument in the world. Well, I think I've decided what piano to buy, should I ever have the money and the space to own one.
